From Culture to Classroom: A STEAM Workshop, Hip Hop’ademics (PDF Flyer)
Description

Come join us to explore effective equitable STEAM instruction that reinforces learning through hip hop-inspired making. Through hands-on instruction and collaborative engagement, you will experience the intersection of mathematical thinking, invention, creativity, culture, and identity. Our workshop will address age and grade appropriate mathematical and digital literacy concepts such as patterns, mathematical reasoning, and computational thinking.

This workshop will offer a choice of 3 different strands. The strands are differentiated based on grade level. You will be able to share your preference below for the date and the strand that you would like to participate in. The dates are Saturday October 14 and/or October 21 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. The strands are Grades K-2: DJing, Bots & Math; Grade 3 – 6: Graffiti Tag Blocks with LEDs; and Grade 6+: Rap & Canva AI Art.

You will receive PDPs and a tool kit and a lesson overview for each strand in this workshop.
